The University of Pennsylvania's Integrated Product Design Master's programs merge the disciplines of design, engineering and business for the purpose of creating compelling new products and experiences. The program is designed to train students in technology, business, manufacturing, aesthetics and human-product interaction and provide them with a framework for bringing these disciplines together to create something new.
Today's social, environmental, economic and experiential problems are too complex and ambiguous to solve using the tools of one discipline alone. Integrated learning is therefore at the heart of Penn IPD. The programs draw on three schools within the University: The School of Engineering and Applied Science, The Wharton School, and The School of Design. Professors from all three schools teach our graduate courses and students develop a diverse skill set beyond the limits of a single domain. Upon graduating, IPD students bring this integrated point of view to their roles as entrepreneurs, designers, product engineers or leaders of front-end innovation teams. We offer two degrees, the Master of Integrated Product Design (M:IPD) & the Master of Engineering in Integrated Product Design (MSE:IPD)
