Ruichen Zhao has received his B.S. degree (with Best Thesis Award) in electrical engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2008 and his Ph.D. degree in ECE from UT Austin in 2012. Dr. Zhao is a reviewer of prestigious IEEE journals and conferences. His technical interests include various topics in electronics. His industrial experience includes work at Samsung Electronics. Currently, Dr. Zhao is working with Tesla Motors as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer.

Q : How do you work independently and with others?

A : I am a strong believer of DiSC personality assessment tool. I am a person with SC personality highlighted by being supportive and accurate. When I work alone, I tend to be very focused and always motivated. When in a team, I prefer to be relaxing and let my teammates feel so as well. I appreciate the spirit of sharing.

Q : What do you think was the main barrier in your application? What is your suggestion to overcome it?

A : I'd admit that there were a few "trial-and-error" during my application back in 2007. I believe to obtain every single piece of information and resource your need will allow you to overcome this barrier and eventually achieve a competitive package out of your peers.
