  有问必答

Q : What do you think are the key points for a successful personal statements/pursue reason for accounting?

A : In my opinion, for any great graduate accounting program in U.S., when writing personal statement, applicant must persuade admission committee that he/she will be able to find a job after graduation. Therefore, an impressive personal statement should indicate three things. First, what does applicant knows about accounting. Applicant should briefly describe his/her understanding about the specific accounting field, for example, audit, tax, corporate accounting etc. For student who applies a Master of Accounting program, I highly recommend that applicant describes your understanding about audit. The reason why I recommend audit is because the majority of entry-level jobs opening for accounting students are audit positions. Second, what is applicant's past experience, how his/her past experience can better align him/her to start an audit career and why he/she choose audit. Third, applicant must clearly describe what would be his/her study plan during the graduate accounting program, what would be his/her short-term career goal after graduation, and what would be his/her long-term career goal in next 10 years. If anyone need more specific guidance regarding his/her personal statement, I am willing to help.

Q : Would you share with us any things deeply impressed you during your work?

A : Working in America is a great experience. Overall, as a foreigner, the culture in American workplace makes me feel very comfortable. Good American companies really care about talents. Based on my past interview experience with many Fortunate 500 companies, if a foreign student has a great attitude and can bring more value to the employer than local American students, the employer generally would like to hire us. The working environment in American companies is very diverse. Employees might originally come from different countries. No matter whom we are and where we are from, everyone works here would be treated equally and everyone would respect each other in the workplace. As a foreign employee, although sometimes I feel like there is some culture differences between my American colleagues and me. Sometimes it is hard for us to frequently hang out, but we are actually keeping a great professional relationship in the workplace. My team and my superior are very supportive. I can feel they try their best to help me when I have questions. They care about my career development and are willing to provide me regular feedback to help me improve and succeed in my career. Overall, American companies provide me a great platform to help me grow up fast in a very professional way.
