Kennedy Wang earned his B.S. in Electronic Information Science and Technology from Wuhan University. Kennedy Wang is now working for a PHD degree at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research is in development and application of novel photonic and electronic devices. He is the recipient of 2014 IEEE Electron Devices Society Early Career Award and the Best Paper Award at the 11th International Conference on Infrared Optoelectronics.

Q : How's life at UIUC?

A : I have to admit UIUC is the representative of Countryside University. There are not many entertainments there. Instead of noises in cities, it is pretty quiet and peaceful there which provides students a research environment. Certainly, there are also drawbacks. The supermarket is far from student apartment, so we go shopping only once a week. If you want to be a researcher, welcome to UIUC.

Q : What was the happiest moment in your Ph.D.?

A : The best part of the experience for me was demonstrating my research results at the academic conference. Since I had spent countless hours refining every details of the research work myself, I could answer any question with ease. It was the happiest time in my life.
