  有问必答

Q : Would you please give us a brief introduction about you graduate courses and the one benefits you a lot?

A : In CMU, the most attractive thing is that you can choose your course by yourself. And also you even can choose courses from other departments which are helpful. So students feel free and can study what they really like. For me, my major is environmental engineering. I want to do something about water treatment after graduation, so I choose the courses such as Fundamentals of Water Quality Engineering, Advanced Drinking Water Treatment, Water Chemistry, Mathematical Modeling of Environmental Quality systems. These four courses are the basic of my major, I not only review what I have learned in undergraduate courses, but also got in touch with a lot of advanced and new knowledge. What’s more, I learned the GIS and database which are tools for doing environmental projects. These are very practical and in the final project, you can find how useful all of this knowledge you have learned. I think the most beneficial one is GIS. Firstly, it’s a significant skill which employer focuses on when you apply for a job. Secondly, I haven’t known it before, so it is new for me and it makes me know how we can find clear results only based on some figures.

Q : What do you consider as the most precious experience in USA and why?

A : I think the most precious experience in USA is that how people get along with each other. Every day, I took the bus to school, the driver said Hello to me, sometimes, it rained, the bus driver said “water makes things better” and “take care”. Every people are positive every day and they are very glad to meet you and to help you. I remember several times, when I carried my big luggage to take the train, unfamiliar people help me carry it. People there are really nice and you won’t feel lonely even though you are in a foreign country.
