Qing Zhao has received her B.S. degree in Finance from Hefei University of Technology and is pursuing her Master degree of Global Finance in Fordham University starting from Sep 2015. Qing was an exchange student in Taiwan from Sep 2013 to Jan 2014. In Fordham, she was a research assistant for a professor for a semester. Currently, Qing is a co-president of a club of Fordham University, a PR Director of a non-profit organization, Vice Chair of an Annual Convention, and working as an intern at a Hedge Fund. She is easy-going and willing to help more students to go abroad.

Q : What do you think is the most important while applying for a postgraduate program in Finance?

A : Show your interest in the school and the program. Show your ability that you can finish the program successfully, meaning you have good GPA, TOEFL and GMAT. Let the Officers of Admission feel that your ability and their program is a good match.

Q : What are the differences between the teaching methods of Finance in China and the USA?

A : 1) More teachers have industry experience. Teachers share more information about their working experience and their insight of the industry. 2) In the US, we have more group projects and case study. 3) In the US, teachers will invite professionals to come over and give a lecture in class or at their offices. You will have more chance to visit famous companies, like NASDAQ.

Q : What did you learn from the experience as a Research Assistant in Fordham University?

A : When I was a Research Assistant, I worked in a team of 20 MS students to make a database and conducted the research for financing history before IPOs of 2000+ A share Chinese companies and China concept stock companies. We compared information from the prospectus with related financing news reported in the media to investigate the false declaration phenomenon before IPOs of companies. After that, I am more familiar with prospectus and the use of Excel. That was a very good group project experience.
