Belinda SONG has received her B.S degree in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) and is pursuing her Master degree of Accountancy in The George Washington University (GW) starting from Aug 2016. Belinda also had an exchange term in IESEG School of Management, Lille France. So she has very deep understanding of the education system and culture differences of US, Europe and China. Belinda is currently studying in the public accounting area, and focused on audit and taxation. In NUAA, she had outstanding academic performance, 3.87/4.00 Grade Point Average, and won lots of entrepreneurship awards. And she also had lots of internship experiences in the big four accounting firms and famous banks such as: Deloitte, Bank of China, Hua tai Securities. Currently, Belinda is doing an intern in a famous foundation in US, and also preparing for AICPA and CFA exams.

Q : What do you think is the most important during the application of a postgraduate program in Accountancy?

A : From my perspective, I believe that work experience or internship experience is most important during the application of Master of Accountancy programs. As Accounting is a subject that relate closely to the true and practical world, someone who have plentiful experience and shows his talent in this area will always make the admissions officer have good impression on him. What is more, fluent oral English and outstanding writing English are also very important. When people do business together, they need to communicate with other, and they need to write business letters. So if your spoken English and written English will also be a plus to your application.

Q : What are the differences of teaching methods in Accountancy between China and the USA?

A : Teaching method in Accountancy in China focused more on the Accounting rules, however, teaching in US concentrate more on establishing a whole view of accounting industry to students. For example, in China, students are taught how to finish financial statements, and in US students learn more things about the whole business world, such as the business laws, information system accountancy and so on. What is more, Chinese teachers tries to give students more academic knowledge, and US teachers will let student develop knowledge by ourselves.

Q : Why do you want to be a mentor with CompassEdu?

A : I hope my own experience can help other students, because I also got lots of help from others when I was applying for business school. What is more, being a mentor can make me learn how to communicate with others and gain me soft skills.
