  有问必答

Q : How do you choose the best postgraduate program to apply for? What factors should be considered?

A : I decided to start my career in Tesla and gave up other school’s graduate school offers because I believe I will grow more while working in the industry other than in the graduate school. However, further strengthening my technical knowledge base is a must for my future career goal, therefore I applied for Stanford’s part time MSEE program to continue my study in Electrical Engineering world. I consider more about the design of the master program like what tracks I can choose for my graduate school study and what kind of courses I can choose (including the joint course from other departments) with interest. Also, academic atmosphere, industrial relationship and nearby career opportunities are also the strong factors to be considered.

Q : What do you think about the role of internship experience in the application? Do you have any suggestions for undergraduates while looking for internships?

A : Internship experiences are part of the shiniest points on your resume as a fresh graduate student. Recruiters like to look at your internship company and project outcomes to evaluate your skill sets and background match. Internship experiences are an acknowledgment from related industries and will help you on job hunting. For undergraduates who are seeking internships, my recommendation is to contact your school’s career help center to properly format and prepare your official resume and plan for couple versions if you decide to seek internships in different academic areas. Your research/lecture professors usually have good connections with their industries and maintaining a good relationship with them such as to earn a remarkable grade in their courses or become a member of his research team will expose your strengths and attitudes, which may lead to a good result that you may be introduced to company recruiters/managers directly from your professors. Besides proper preparation for interviews, you should also think about company reputation, industrial/social connections while choosing offers.

Q : Would you please share with us the working experience in Tesla Motors, Inc?

A : Working in Tesla is an awesome experience. Learning and growing with top talented engineers to solve technical problems in multiple ways with open discussions has been a brilliant part of my life since the beginning and people here are willing to listen, provide feedbacks, encourage and help you out. It is an honor to work in a cool company with delicate products that attract eyes from the world and it is a great feeling that you can see the product that you involve with is being driven on the street and people are saying good words about it. Making the world a better place to live is always an in-resistible mission to devote yourself into it.
