The Economics Master of Science program provides a deep understanding of the theoretical and empirical foundations of economics and the quantitative tools required for research careers in economics. There are three required, two-term core courses for both tracks: microeconomics, macroeconomics, and statistics-econometrics.
The Master of Science is a two-track program in Economics:
The M.S.-Course-Based track — An eight-course program, which can be completed in one year, without a thesis.
The M.S.-Research-Based track — A twelve-credit program to be completed in two years, with a master's thesis.
The Combined BS/MS Degree Program in Economics is offered by the School of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Exceptional students may combine undergraduate and graduate courses and are simultaneously enrolled in the bachelor's and master's degrees programs in Economics. Both degrees are awarded only on completion of the entire program; a student may not receive one degree before the other, even if the requirements for that degree have been met
