Isabella Yang holds a Master of Science in Marketing degree from University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Marketing degree from Hunan University. Besides having good academic performance, she was actively involved in internships. She ever served as a marketer intern in LVMH in summer 2010, and also worked as a marketing strategist in Tencent and GE Healthcare. Before graduation, she had received many job offers such as P&G, Unilever. Finally, a keen interest in cosmetics industry drove Isabella to choose Estee Lauder Group.

Q : How do you think about internships? And how do you balance classroom learning and your internships?

A : Undoubtedly, internship is very significant for marketing specialty. All the knowledge we learned in class just stay at a theoretical level, while internship gives a chance to deepen understanding and learn more practical skills. In fact, study and practice are not contradictory but complementary. As to me, I always try my best not to let my social practices distract me from study. So, arrange your internship in weekends and winter or summer vacation, especially in your first three years of your undergraduate studies. The more concentration you give to one thing, the better result you will harvest.

Q : When applying for a postgraduate programme in Marketing, what are the most important capabilities or skills our undergraduates should focus on?

A : As far as I am concern, Marketing is the act of communicating or disseminating the message you want your audience to perceive as your brand. So good eloquence is an essential ability in people's social association, and it is also principle for a person to achieve success in Marketing. Besides, based on the theory of marketing, a product entering the market in the early stages of the adoption of market research survey of potential consumers is essential. Therefore strong analytical capability and sensitive in market are equally important. Last but not least, Innovative Marketing Ideas are the key to success in market promotion. Thus, undergraduates should also enhance their innovative capabilities.
