  有问必答

Q : Why you work in Hong Kong after the graduation from US?

A : US H-1B visa is subject to annual cap, and the cap has been quickly reached with high number of visa requests in recent years. The immigration office draws the lottery. The Finance major does not belong to the STEM-Designated Degree Program List, so I suppose it’s somewhat risky for me. Comparatively, finance is one of pillar industries in Hong Kong, and Hong Hong’s development has always been closely linked with the mainland. So I believe it is a good place for job hunting.

Q : Many people said in the internet that Columbia’s tuition is high but the employment is not ideal. What do you think?

A : There is no doubt about the academic level of professors in Columbia, but what people really care about are student-teacher ratio and employment opportunities. As far as I know, not all students were looking for jobs in earnest. Many students did not intend or need to work in the US because of personal and family reasons. Almost all students who hunted job seriously obtained good offers. Advantages of university reputation and position are obvious.
