Aaron Han is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Computer Science and Engineering at University of Michigan. Aaron received his BS in Computer Science from Harbin Institute of Technology in May 2012, and his MS in Computer Science from the University of Michigan in May 2014. He interned at Amazon in Seattle, WA as a software engineer in the summers of 2013 and 2014 and is working at Facebook this summer as an intern for the Language Technology team. He is interested in using the computer's modeling power to better understand the inner workings of the human mind, and using this understanding to create more intelligent software programs.

Q : When you considered possible graduate programs, what did you think about the most?

A : As a student who is interested in research outside of the classroom, I pay more attention to the strength of program and research opportunities it offered. Just when I knew that The Computer Science and Engineering Division at Michigan provides many opportunities for students to participate in research, I was attracted deeply. It turned out I was right. In the period of graduate study, here I have the opportunity to engage in a variety of research programs. During the doctorate study period, I explore new frontiers and work with highly esteemed faculty in state-of-the-art facilities.

Q : What advice do you have to someone who wants to follow your path?

A : Prepare early. I believe that the early bird catches the worm. Up to now, many universities have adopted rolling admission which means the earlier you submit your application, the better chances for success.
